Expansion of the existing multi-purpose space, fitness centre and pottery studio to
provide much needed larger, consolidated space for accessibility by aging patrons and
special needs population, correction of environmental safety concerns in existing
facilities, and consolidation of several programs into one location, thereby increasing

Centre Goes “Green”
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation will employ LEED Certified [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] building practices in the construction of the West Point Grey Community Centre expansion project.
To obtain LEED Certification a building must be constructed using environmentally sound and sustainable building methods. This includes types and source of building materials, water and sewage design, energy efficient heating and lighting systems and interior environment quality.
The City of Vancouver has won numerous awards for their building design and it is anticipated that the West Point Grey Community Centre’s expansion facility will be of the same high standards.
